The third phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana will start next month, targeting to train 1 crore people under the scheme.

The government will launch the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in the next one month. According to Skills Development Minister Mahendranath Pandey, this time the scheme will focus on strengthening the district skills committees. At the Virtual Conference organized by Assocham, the Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship emphasized on linking skills with local needs and preparing the curriculum accordingly.

What is PMKVY?

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) approved by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (PMKVY) for another four years (2016-2020) to benefit 10 million youth allotted by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (PMKVY). The objective of this Skills Certificate Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to undergo industry-related skills training which will help them to earn a better livelihood. Individuals with previous learning experience or skills will be evaluated and certified under Pre-Learning (RPL).



The scheme was launched in the year 2015

The PMKVY scheme was launched by the government in 2015 and was revised in 2016. Under this, the target was to impart skills training to one crore people by the year 2020. The revised scheme was named PMKVY 2.0.


What is the purpose of the scheme?

Taking advantage of this scheme, they can either start their own business or even get a job somewhere. In addition, efforts are being made at the government level to provide employment to skilled workers under this scheme. Stages like Job Fair prove to be effective for this.

Get a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh

The government also provides loans of up to Rs 1.5 lakh under the scheme. Those who have done Higher Secondary or Post Graduation are eligible for registration in this scheme. Under this scheme job fairs are organized by the government for the trainees. It is held once every 6 months.

Registration process

To apply for this scheme one has to go to http://pmkvyofficial.org and fill in the name, address and e-mail etc. The applicant will then have to select the technology sector in which he wants to take training. It covers about 40 technological sectors such as construction, electronics, hardware, food processing, furniture and fitting handicrafts, gems jewelery and leather technology. After filling in this information, you have to choose your training center.
